FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Upon returning from a day of lobbying the Indiana General Assembly I watched a television program regarding alleged  “alien abductions” of human beings. I wondered, if so many  Americans are armed, why someone didn’t get a shot off at them? That prompted my  imagination to ask, “What if someone landed a punch (against the aliens)? Who in Washington, D.C. would take that call? I began using my experience of twenty years in and interacting with the U.S. government to construct what might be a logical agency that really takes the subject of an alien presence seriously. Thus, the story was born.

First, we have numerous reports by people around the planet of their encounters with these beings. The majority of witnesses describe similar characteristics. Second, the Roswell incident appears to verify that alien spacecraft have visited our planet; even though the U.S. military may have attempted a coverup of the facts.

Although the depictions of aliens in motion pictures and science fiction literature like to focus on an apparent desire to destroy all of humanity, their presence here for  decades or even hundreds of years doesn’t point to that goal. It probably lies in the qualities of planet earth, in its location, relatively hospitable environment and  possibly assets that have attracted them.

Yes. The locations especially in Indiana are real. In fact, readers can find the  places on a map and follow the plot. The only “fake” name is Wilhelm, a small town that is destroyed in the narrative.

I also used my twenty-five years of experience in and interacting with the state and federal government along with politics to incorporate real American life motives and thinking. The characters are entirely fictional, but developed over a long career of knowing and working with hundreds of political actors.

Yes. The two main protagonists who create the main crisis in the book are well-intentioned. But they get themselves into a situation that is “over their heads”.

They try to escape and hide at first. But cannot escape the consequences of what they have done. In their flight, they do grow as humans.

They even seem to redeem themselves with a kind of home spun heroism.

But they are also tragic figures.

The reader may also sense that the aliens are not quite the “ten-feet tall” indestructible monsters so often depicted in popular fiction. And there is a real possibility that if humanity worked together, we could adequately challenge the alien presence.

Yes. And the sequel addresses how the U.S. government (secretly) launches a global effort to effectively address the alien presence.
